13AUG2005: Apologies to all following this thread here, I've been quite busy over the past month and this page hasn't been updated. In the meantime, Louis has returned safely to base and Eddie Maes will take the two remaining pictures. As of William, well... William has gone astray again and we have lost contact of him between Hong-Kong and Belgium.
The cadavre-exquis words that have accompanied Louis' trip are:
| IRON(FE) - DOOR - STONE - ARCH - PLASTER - EGG - WRAPPED - TOWER - WATER(H2O) |

11JUL2005: Louis safely arrived in Australia, skipping the stop it was expected to make in India as we are without news of A.B. Apana who probably is on tour, chasing tigers on elephant back! Hopefully, we'll manage to catch up with him later on this summer.

29JUN2005: William has gone all the way from Brazil to Hong-Kong and arrived in the middle of these numerous buildings... What a change from Amazonia !

19JUN2005: Louis has made the long trip from Austria to Israel, the light looks a lot brighter there.

08JUN2005:William has arrived in Curitiba, Brasil. Alan Skyrme is taking him around in what seems to be lovely weather. Meanwhile, contacts are being sought with the RPS and other organisations to start planning for the phase after the cameras travels. A brochure is being put together and should be made available soon on this site in PDF format.

04JUN2005:Louis celebrates its arrival in Austria in style! A little confusion arised on the picture count and where it should be at... All is normal with eleven shots left, but with four participants remaining we will be short one frame... This should mean that William, on the other hand will have a spare frame or two...

25MAY2005:William has finally shown itself on the forum, sunbathing in a garden in Canada ! This is the first sighting since it left Belgium, mid-march, so this is quite an event in itself...

Louis leaves Finland today, after spending some time with Heli Huhtala, he's now off to Austria...

24APR2005:Louis continues its European tour with Jeroen van Weert, with stories of women, the Devil and drinks...

Next stop: Finland! So far, judging by the pictures posted by the participants, the weather has been particularly good for Louis's trips...
Another week without news from William... What's happening in the United States? Is Uncle Sam giving extra work to our American participants? Has William entered Area51 and gone on a trip with aliens?
17APR2005:Louis has made a trip to Brighton with Chris Farrow. Here is a nice little humoristic portrait:

Next week, Louis will be travelling to the Netherlands and meet Jeroen.
It is well worth reading Chris's account of the experience on the Travels of Louis thread on the RPS forum, starting at pos #25!
In the meantime, we're still out of touch with William... Should we worry or is Nigel simply very busy?
08APR2005:Louis has wandered a bit in the Coswolds with Roger, who seemed quite happy with his experience. Here is a portrait of it:

In the meantime, William was with Ken who got stuck near Atlanta with a broken vehicle and unable to get in touch with the group. Fortunately, there was nothing to worry about and William is now on its way to Memphis to meet Nigel.
Louis is in Horsham with Chris who had the bad surprise to have the post office clerk not be able to find the packet. Fortunately, it was found by the end of the day, but for that small period of time, both cameras were unnaccounted for...
22MAR2005:Louis was taken to London via Eurostar and has been sent on to Gloucester where the next photographer, Roger Gregory, will take over.
19MAR2005: Summertime was in Paris for a week-end, probably celebrating spring. This resulted in perfect conditions for Jérôme to shoot his three pictures.
The first picture, representative of the location, is taken under the "Metropolitain", loosely inspired by a photograph from Roger Schall seen at the current exhibition in the Italie2 shopping center, unlikely place for an exhibition really worth seeing (until 30MAR2005).
The second picture titled "Le ciel est bleu par dessus le toit", after a poem by Paul Verlaine, is a view of the Louvres pyramid, from below. It is a shot that Jérôme keeps revisiting since the first time he shot it about fifteen years ago.
And here is his portrait of Louis,

14MAR2005: Louis leaves Brussels for Paris! With a slight delay at departure, Louis has left its originating place and started on its part of the trip. The journey has actually started!
25FEB2005: As of tonight midnight, the project is officialy started! We're on track!
24FEB2005: The project officially starts tomorrow! Eddie plans to take the initial pictures this week-end. Rules have been finalised and Jeroen van Weert maintains the travelling schedule.
We also welcome two new participants, Peneloppe Duns and Moti Goldman who are a very enthusiastic pair of people!
18FEB2005: The two devices have been built this week! The one below has been named William (in memory of William Fox Talbot)

The other one is called Louis (for Louis Mandé Daguerre) and is made out of Kodak cameras. We hope to see them start their journey before the end of the month. Rules will soon be updated to their final form and a schedule is in preparation. Stay tuned, this is taking off soon !
04JAN2005: A few modifications have been made to the rules, following Alan Skyrme's suggestions. These clarify the role of the courrier and provide a framework for sponsorship and exhibition.
21DEC2004: Eddie has done his first experiments and first results can be seen on his web page... It all looks very good! Visit Eddie Maes' page

11DEC2004: Ken Appleton has put together his web page for this project with a very useful map. Visit Ken Appleton's page.
30NOV2004: This area of the site was created today. Things are pretty much still in the infancy stage and the best way to keep up to date is to monitor the RTW disposable camera thread on the RPS forum.
